1st Session Continues

Today was the second full day of camp and things are still going great.  Every day the counselors are becoming more comfortable with their role for the summer.  Here are some pictures from yesterday and today's activities.
Yesterday the Kenya/Kilimanjaro (high school students) went rock climbing.  Today they are traveling to the rafting site where they will raft tomorrow.  Thursday they will play paint ball, a brand new activity for high schoolers this year.  Since these young people are out of camp for most of the week their counselors have a unique opportunity to get to really pour into them during their week of camp.

While the high schoolers were out rock climbing, the rest of camp started their monday morning off with skills.  Campers sign up for their favorite activities or the ones they just want to learn more about.  Archery is always a popular one, and even though basketball is pictured here, soccer is a favorite for both boys and girls.  And just a quick note about the bottom picture of Leah helping to make memory boxes in Arts and Crafts.  You can pray for Leah, she is one of our counselors.  She sustained a concussion on Sunday morning, she is much better and has started to rejoin activities but you can continue to pray for her speedy recovery.
Monday nights are always special at camp because the program ends with worship and a message from one of the counselors.  Last night after Humdinger, a new evening program, the whole camp came together and Zach led them in worship which was followed by a message from Kaelyn.  Since this year's camp theme is "Overcome," her message focused on sharing her testimony within the context of how Jesus' overcoming sin and death has transformed her life.
Tonight the senior campers will have the opportunity for a quiet night around the fire at campout while the little guys are partyin' hard at the Fiesta Carnival.  Thank you for praying for camp this week!
Here's a cute parting picture for today's blog post!
