A South Asian Cookout

A couple of weeks ago we had a wonderful ministry opportunity with our South Asian small group.  In our most recent meeting we had decided that we wanted to host an outreach event together.  For the past several years, we have had them from time to time, but we hadn't had one since Christmas.  We decided to have a cookout where we would all invite friends, specifically trying to invite people who didn't know Christ.  We were expecting about 20 people, about half of which would be our group.  But on the night of the cookout, about 30 people showed up.  We've got some amazing cooks in our group so we had a delicious spread of chicken and vegetable curries that were cooked over an open flame on jiko's (little grills) on our porch.
I overheard several great things.  I heard a guy who is new to our group sharing Christ with one of mine and Stu's friend's.  It was so neat to see someone else taking the time to share with our friend.  Its so powerful for someone to hear about Christ through the lens of a believer from their own culture.  I also heard someone else inviting a lady that she had just met to come visit our group when we meet together.  I'm sure many more things like that happened, those were just the 2 that I heard.  Its such a blessing when the Lord gives us opportunities to be a part of His church working as one body to spread the Gospel.  God is good!
