Rugby Season!!!

Its high school rugby season in Kenya, which is a crowd favorite for sure (2nd only to football, aka soccer).  Clayton is helping out as the assistant coach and everyone else just enjoys going to the games and hanging out with the kids.  One recent match featured the two schools our student team is most involved in, Rosslyn Academy and the International School of Kenya.  Rosslyn came out on top.  Here's a shot of the action.

Attending sports games are more than just a fun way to spend the afternoon for our student ministry team.  Games provide valuable opportunities to connect with kids who can otherwise be hard to schedule hang-out time with.  High school kids in Kenya are often involved in school, a sport, and the school play, so finding time to get together with them outside of school can be tricky.  For example, Kim was able to connect with some ISK girls who she hasn't been able to spend time with since she got back from the States.  Since she saw them at the game, they remembered how much they enjoy spending time with her (teenagers tend to forget!) and were more willing to schedule another time to hang out.  The more opportunities our team has the chance to connect with kids the more chances they have to hear what is going on with them, speak truth into their lives as they battle the challenges of being a teenager, and most importantly they have more opportunities to share Christ with them.  So you see a rugby match is way more than just a rugby match!
