Climbing Gym Construction is Underway

You may remember from our last newsletter that we have secured a location for our new climbing gym in the heart of Nairobi's "Little India."  We are so excited about the opportunity the gym will provide for our team to further engage this predominately Hindu and Muslim community.  The gym will also draw in business from the international community at large and serve as a venue for our student ministry events.  Our prayer is that this gym will be a place that will allow all of our ministry areas to more effectively join forces to reach people with the Gospel.

Our executive director, Kim Pace, signed the lease on May 18 and they have already begun renovating the facility so that the climbing walls can be built.  The estimated funding need for building and set-up expenses is $110,000.  Donations can be made by clicking on the Donate badge on the lefthand side of this blog.  By supporting this project, you can help spread the Gospel in Kenya.  You can see the progress that has been made at the gym in the pictures below.

Kim signed the lease for the Climbing Gym on May 18.

This is half of the room on the day the lease was signed, pre-partition removal.

The view from the climbing gym.  At the top of the picture you can see the Diamond Plaza food court, one of the most popular hangouts for the Indian community in Kenya.  Below the gym, there are lots of shops where you can by everything from Indian clothes to DVD's to groceries.

The partition was coming down by May 31.

This picture is looking out at the gym from inside the space designated for student ministry events.
