There are 7, with a possibility of 2 more, student leaders for the groups this year. They are all juniors or seniors and they each have a specific focus group (MS or HS). Most of the students approached Amanda with a desire to be in leadership, its so fun to see the kids stepping up like that. Several of the other kids are leaders and don't realize it, so she asked them if they would join the team so that they have the opportunity to develop that potential. The whole team is meeting for breakfast before school on Thursday mornings. During this time they are focusing on deepening their faith, developing their leadership skills, and spending time in prayer for their classmates and the youth groups. Please be in prayer for Amanda as she pours into this team and equips them to lead their peers.
This year they are planning to focus on small groups during the youth group time. By having these as a core component each week, instead of the last few minutes at the end of the night, they are hoping to add to the depth of discussion. Our leaders would love to see the kids more willing to share with their peers and more committed to pray for one anther.
Here are some specific ways you can pray for youth group this year:
- Pray for Amanda, Kim, and Jon as they each play a role in leading the groups this fall.
- Pray for that the student leaders would grow and develop so that they can effectively minister to their peers.
- Pray for the kids that know Jesus. Pray that they would grow in their relationship with Him each week.
- Pray for the kids that don't know Jesus, that they would continue to come to youth group and that they would come into a relationship with Him.
- Pray that there would be an openness during each of the small group times.
