South Asian Ministry Has Some Great Opportunities This Week

We're so thankful to have had the opportunity to spend a significant amount of time with South Asians this week.  I'm sure everyone who has been involved in some type of relational ministry can relate to the feeling that there are some times that it seems like you couldn't pay people to hang out with you and other times when you desperately crave just a few minutes of down time.  In his good providence, God allows both of these scenarios to help us grow and realize our utter dependence on him.  This week is shaping up to be one of those week's where opportunities abound and we're so thankful to the Lord for the doors He is opening.
On Sunday, we (Stu, Lauren, and Graham) had the chance to take a day trip to Crescent Island in Naivasha (a little over an hour away) with about 10 South Asians.  We had met everyone before, some we had only met once or twice, while others are good friends of ours.  We had such a great time just walking and taking with our friends in the beauty of God's creation.  The relaxed day gave us the opportunity to deepen relationships as we discussed life, family, and work.  Its opportunities like this that open doors as we seek to share our faith with those that do not know Christ.

Last night we had the huge blessing of having dinner in the home of a family of South Asian believers.  Every time we are with this family I am reminded of God's goodness in salvation.  God saved them out of a Hindu background and they are so full of joy that radiates to those around them.  In Nairobi, the South Asians have a reputation of being shrewd businessmen who will not hesitate to cheat you just to make a buck.  We are always treated very well, but we see this reputation played out in the way they interact with one another.  Our friends' home is a stark contrast to the homes of South Asians who do not follow Christ.  They treat one another with the love of Christ and it makes such a difference in the lives of those they come into contact with.  What an awesome example they set for us.
Another opportunity we are excited about is a discussion our South Asian small group will be hosting Friday night.  We've all been given an article to read about reaching Indians in the diaspora.  The article is written for the North American context, where we as Americans have a huge opportunity to reach the growing number of Hindu's that now call the States home.  One of the guys from the group (a South Asian believer) believes that the article can be applied to our situation in Kenya as well, so we're looking forward to being a part of that discussion and seeing the fruit that comes from it.  We would appreciate your prayers as we discuss ways to reach the Indian diaspora living in Kenya.
