The Last Week of Camp Kicks Off

Yesterday we had another big turnout at Opening Day, another 150 kids are in 5th session.  I'd like to ask you to pray specifically for the counselors and staff this week.  Lots of people are not feeling well, their bodies are just getting worn down at the end of a long couple of months.  Please pray for Leah, she missed all of camp last week because she was sick.  She hasn't gotten any better so today the Dr. admitted her to the hospital for a day or two of IV drugs and fluids.  Pray that her body would heal in time for her to enjoy her last couple of weeks in Kenya.
On Saturday at the staff meeting after the campers left, the counselors were able to share lots of cool things that the Lord did in their cabins during 4th session.  Shanna had 8 little Suswa girls (7-9yrs), many of the girls were from Hindu backgrounds.  On Tuesday night they had their devotion under the stars and they talked about creation.  From that moment on Shanna was able to see the Lord at work in the girls hearts.  She had one on one time with each of the girls and during this time 5 of the girls expressed a desire to put their faith in Christ.  Please pray for these girls and their new faith in Christ.
Another counselor, Jenny, had Suswa girls who were from a British Kenyan background.  This is especially cool because Jenny is from the same background, her family is one of the few Christian families that you will meet in the British Kenyan community.  She was encouraged to see lots of girls asking deep questions like "what is sin" and "how did God get here?"  It's so neat to see how the Lord works in the hearts of even the smallest campers.
One counselor was able to encourage a camper whose parents were in the middle of a divorce.  She had been through the same thing when she was the same age and it was the first time that she was able to use her experience to encourage someone else.
Overall, the counselors expressed a real burden for last week's campers, so many of them were dealing with hard situations and deep hurts, the kind of real life situations that you just wish kids never had to deal with.  They took great encouragement from the fact that God works outside of time.  God used them to plant seeds in the lives of the kids, now they must be faithful to continue to pray that the Lord would work in their hearts and draw them to Himself.
Here are some more pictures from the end of 4th session.
