Camp Staff 2011 Retreat

Thank you all for praying for our camp staff retreat, which was held this past weekend at WinShape in Rome, Georgia. The majority of our 2011 summer staff, who come from multiple states across the country, were able to gather together for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and planning for their summer in Kenya.
Camp Staff 2011
Everyone arrived on Friday night (after many experienced flight delays), and spent the evening delving into our 2011 camp theme 'Rescue'.  Everyone was blindfolded, broken into groups, and then had multiple tasks to solve...with their final task being to 'rescue' the members of the leadership team: Amanda, Gabe, Michelle, and Greg.  On Saturday, the team had a chance to do some practical team-building while moving through the high ropes course together, and then they experienced the clash of cultures as they tried to solve another task together.  Throughout the course of the weekend, everyone was able to hear a bit of one another's life stories as each person shared their 'object that represents them' and their 'picture of one of their adventures thus far'.  And, they wrapped up Saturday night together in a time of worship and prayer around the campfire.

Lots of sharing throughout the weekend

Team building at its max
It is always amazing to watch a team of people that have never met move quickly into truly knowing one another and worshipping together over the course of this weekend experience!   We have an amazing team this summer, and the leadership truly felt like the weekend was a great success!

Then, after most of the team left on Sunday night, a few stayed behind to begin a week of training for their 15 month stint in Kenya!  We are now welcoming Greg, Bryce, and Daley to our full-time team!  Please be praying for their week as they continue to know one another and prepare to spend this next season of their lives serving in Kenya!  More about them coming soon...

And, Michelle leaves on Monday to move to Kenya!  Please be praying with her as she says good-bye to her family and friends in the US and begins the process of settling into her new life and ministry in Kenya.  The current crew in Kenya (pictured below) is definitely excited about Michelle's arrival!

We're excited for your arrival, Michelle!
