Stateside Happenings

Brackenhurst Ministries has had a busy few weeks stateside, so here's the quick update.  The most exciting news is that we are growing!  The last 2 weeks of October we had training for some new staff that will be joining our team next year.  We are so excited about the new people that the Lord is bringing to our team to serve Him in Kenya.  Take a look at who is coming and what they will be doing.

Andrew Conway, Jason Boone, and Stephen Powell (left to right) are all recent graduates of Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas and will be joining the Brackenhurst Ministries team in January.  Andrew is a missionary kid from Kenya and a long time friend of the Brackenhurst Ministries team.  These three guys will be working with BlueSky Adventures and their primary job will be to get a climbing gym started in Nairobi.  We believe a climbing gym will provide an awesome way for our team to connect to the International Community in Nairobi.  In addition to working on the climbing gym, all three guys are planning to plug into our student ministry program.  They have worked with Young Life and various sports ministries throughout college.  

Emily Baird (far right) will also be joining the BlueSky Adventures team as a seasonal intern for the teambuilding program.  She is a recent graduate at Berry College, where she has been working as a facilitator for WinShape Wilderness.  Emily will be working with BlueSky Adventures from January thru July, after which time she is planning to attend grad school.

Michelle Peteet (left) will be joining our team in May to serve as a part of the student ministry team.  She is a graduate of Berry College and has been working in youth ministry in Rome, GA for 3 years.  Michelle will be focusing her work at Rosslyn Academy, the local missionary school, and serving as the head counselor at camp this summer.

Lexi Wayman will be joining our student ministry team in February.  She is from Los Angeles and is a graduate of USC.  For the past several years she has been serving as the administrator for a tutoring company that serves students in LA.  Lexi's primary student work will be focused at the International School.  She will also be serving as the camp administrator.

We are so excited about what the Lord will do in and thru this team in Kenya.  Each of them loves the Lord and longs to see Him move in the International community in Nairobi.  We've actually got more announcements about other new people joining our team, but that's just too much excitement for one blog post so we'll save that for another day.

In addition to staff training, Kim arrived in the States at the end of October and has been busy talking to lots of people about what the Lord is doing through Brackenhurst Ministries.  She was able to have a reunion with former short term team volunteers, meet with a couple of churches about orphan sponsorship, and connect with the board.  She's headed back to Kenya tomorrow so be praying for her trip back.
