We’re so glad you’ve visited our new blog. We’re hoping this can be an easy way to follow what the Lord is doing in Kenya through Brackenhurst Ministries. If you’re just finding out about Brackenhurst Ministries, you will be interested to know that we are working with several different communities in Kenya. They include:
- The International Community – Nairobi is home to one of Africa’s largest international communities. People from all over the world work for Embassies, the UN, Non-Government Organizations, and Mission Organizations. There is also a large British population that remained in Kenya after colonization ended. The vast majority of the International Community is financially affluent yet spiritually dry. Our programs give us a unique outlet to share Christ with this community.
- The South Asian Community – Kenya is also home to a large number of people with roots in India and Pakistan. Most South Asians come from either a Hindu or Muslim background. A large rift exists between African Kenyans and Asian Kenyans, so much so that the African church has a very difficult time reaching the South Asian. Many South Asians participate in our programs, giving us opportunities to build relationships and share the Gospel with them.
- Local Kenyan Community – We seek to influence the local Kenyan community in several ways. First, our teambuilding and camp programs give us the opportunity to both work with participants and develop our local staff into Christian leaders who affect change in their country. Secondly, we seek to provide hope for the future through our partners at the Western Project. By partnering with local churches to assist in community development and orphan care, we believe that we can effectively care for communities in need and see the Gospel flourish within these communities.
We’re involved in several different projects that help us to develop relationships that enable us to share the Gospel in Kenya. Our projects are listed below.
- Camp BlueSky is a 1-week Christian adventure camp for children aged 7 – 18. Campers have fun, build relationships with other kids in East Africa, and learn more about Christ.
- BlueSky Adventures provides quality teambuilding, leadership programs, and adventure trips for corporate groups, schools, churches, and community organizations in Kenya.
- Our Western Project partners with Mission Link Ministries of Kenya to effect change in and around Bungoma, Kenya. We have partnered with the local church to provide orphan care and numerous community development projects.
This summary is just meant to be a ministry overview, if you would like more information about what we do please visit our website, www.brackenhurstministries.org. We also hope you will contact us if you would like to have more information about our people groups or projects.
*** Finally, a word about security. This blog is intended to help further the work of Brackenhurst Ministries by keeping friends of this ministry informed about how they can pray for us and support this work. Due to the sensitive nature of our work, we would ask that you use discretion with our blog and avoid links to it from Facebook, Twitter, or other blogs that people with whom we work may be reading (this is particularly important for anyone who has been to Kenya and has Facebook friends that you met on your trip here). We hope that you will refer other Christians to both our blog and our website, just please use discretion in the way you do so.
